This fun and versatile binding makes use of recycled materials and has covers that are integrated into the French Stitch binding. The covers are made from recycled cracker or cereal boxes, and found ephemera can be worked into the pages as well. The French Stitch is a link stitch that creates a beautiful patterned effect on the spine that remains exposed and is non-adhesive. This is a wonderfully flexible binding that makes use of materials in the recycling bin and can be used as a journal or sketchbook, and is also a great artist's book structure.

There will be NO kit - but rather I will guide you through gathering the tools and materials that you will need to create a successful book during the workshop and in the future with materials that are accessible to you.

Students will need the following tools: mat knife, awl, bone folder, ruler, triangle, glue brush, needle, and some kind of cutting mat or protection for you work surface.

Students will need the following materials: cover material of a recycled nature (cracker boxes and cereal boxes work great), text weight paper for pages, other found papers to mix in, linen thread for binding, pva glue, pen and pencil.
